THE LEGAL PREPAREDNESS ON CLIMATE CHANGE INITIATIVE - LPCCI
The LPCCI of IDLO aims to ensure the meaningful participation of developing countries in the mechanisms created by the international regime, strengthening the development of a legal environment that promotes the adaptation.
Through a unique methodology, it provides the necessary tools for the recipient countries to consolidate the design, implementation, and adaptation of public policies, and to prepare the country in legal and policy matters to the new international context, empowering their institutions and actors.
The initiative allows to draw a complete diagnosis of the legal readiness and the national climate governance of the countries, providing recommendations for the implementation of tailor-made solutions based on the consensus for:
- Mitigation, thanks to the access to international strategies.
- Access to international financing.
CEID Colombia is currently preparing for IDLO three working papers on Adaptation, Mitigation and REDD+, with emphasis on the legal barriers and innovations related to climate law in Colombia. A Legal Preparedness Assessment Report (L-PAR) will also be produced and disseminated amongst the most relevant stakeholders in the country.
